The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1993 to promote the responsible management of the world's forests.

The Forest Stewardship Council has an international labeling program for forest products which provides a credible guarantee that the product comes from a well-managed forest. All products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.
